Introducing the E-Learning department at the University of Tripoli
The Message
Building an integrated electronic learning environment capable of providing diverse and distinguished educational services, and providing advanced alternatives for those wishing to distance education, by transforming complete programs in the manner of integrated education and distance education, according to local and international standards for the quality of comprehensive education.
The Vision
Communicating the university’s scientific and intellectual mission to the largest segment of learners, locally and internationally, by facilitating distance learning tools and developing smart (electronic) learning methods to reach the highest levels of excellence and scientific and university leadership.
Objectives
- Develop a strategic plan for e-learning and distance education at the university.
- Development of e-learning standards at the university and its policies.
- Achieving quality requirements and performance indicators in e-learning and distance education according to international best practices.
- Create an appropriate environment to activate the role of e-learning and provide distinguished educational services.
- Providing modern, varied and electronic learning methods consistent with the need of the educational process at the university.
- Continuous monitoring of the development of e-learning technologies and methods and facilitating their use in the educational process.
- Developing electronic research capabilities and working to make a qualitative shift in scientific research related to e-learning.
- Producing and developing interactive electronic educational content for the various educational programs at the university.
- Training those involved in the educational process, including administrators, teachers, and students, and enabling them to use the e-learning techniques and methods adopted at the university.
- Exchange of experiences with educational institutions to raise the level of e-learning and spread the culture of self-learning and distance learning.

Teaching system
The university adopts the Moodle program in e-learning where the registered student is entered into it through a special account at
ut.edu.lb/moodle, through which the student will:
Follow up the lectures.
Participate in research activities and forums.
Perform partial tests.
Conducting a comprehensive written evaluation.
Partial and comprehensive oral evaluation.
The student should achieve 80% of the participation rate on Moodle under penalty of suspension of registration in the course and refer the student's file to the Deanship of the College.

Success rate and repeat system:
Success rate: Achievement of 65% of the total score for each course and 70% in the cumulative average, and success in the comprehensive oral evaluation is required at a rate of 70%.
Students with 60% of the grades are allowed to perform a compensatory activity (5 marks) determined by the course instructor.
A student who fails in the comprehensive oral calendar is allowed to return it, at least one week after the date of the first evaluation, and for one time only, provided that this period does not exceed four weeks from the date of the termination of the semester.
If the student fails for the second time, the examining committee has the right to recommend that he be instructed to return the course completely.
The student who fails to attend the first appointment without an excuse is considered to be failing in the course and is deprived of the second opportunity. In the event that the student presents an acceptable excuse to be absent from the first comprehensive oral evaluation, he is given two opportunities as the regular student.
The student who fails to pay the fees is prevented from submitting the comprehensive oral evaluation and his registration is suspended in the course and his file is referred to the dean of the college in the event of redress after exceeding the announced time period, provided that the period during which the redress is not allowed exceeds four weeks from the date of the termination of the semester.
In the event that the student who fails the oral evaluation without an acceptable excuse to take the exam, his file is referred to the dean of the college for consideration, and in the event of approval, he is given one opportunity to apply, provided that the possibility of remedial does not exceed four weeks from the date of the termination of the semester.

Course final review:

The student remains registered in the course on Moodle for up to 4 weeks from the date of the end of the semester and until the end of this period can review the comprehensive written evaluation and he is not entitled to review after this date.

The student has the right to submit a petition for re-submission of the comprehensive oral calendar within 4 weeks of the end date of the semester.
